തെന്മലയിൽ ടോറസും മിനി ലോറിയും കൂട്ടിയിടിച്ച് മിനി ലോറി ഡ്രൈവർ മരിച്ചു. വ്യാഴാഴ്ച രാത്രി 11:30 ഓടെ തിരുവനന്തപുരം- ചെങ്കോട്ട റോഡിൽ തെന്മല കെ.ഐ.പി ജങ്ഷനിലെ പാലത്തിലായിരുന്നു അപകടം. തമിഴ്നാട് വെല്ലൂർ സ്വദേശിയും മിനി ലോറി ഉടമയും ഡ്രൈവറുമായ ശിവശങ്കരൻ (57) ആണ് മരിച്ചത്.
തിരുവനന്തപുരം ഭാഗത്തുനിന്നും തെങ്കാശിയിലേക്ക് പോയ ടോറസുമായാണ് കൂട്ടിയിടിച്ചത്. ഇടിയുടെ ആഘാതത്തിൽ മിനി ലോറിയുടെ മുൻവശം പൂർണമായി തകർന്നു. ഉള്ളിൽ കുടുങ്ങി കിടക്കുകയായിരുന്ന ഡ്രൈവറെ നാട്ടുകാർ രക്ഷിക്കാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചെങ്കിലും വിജയിച്ചില്ല.
പുനലൂർ നിന്നും അഗ്നിശമന സേനാ വിഭാഗം എത്തി വളരെ പ്രയാസപ്പെട്ട് ഡ്രൈവറെ പുറത്തെടുക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. പുനലൂർ താലൂക്ക് ആശുപത്രി കൊണ്ടുവരവേ മരണപ്പെട്ടു. അപകടത്തെ തുടർന്ന് രണ്ടുമണിക്കൂറോളം ഈ ഭാഗത്ത് ഗതാഗതം തടസ്സപ്പെട്ടു.
